The perspective of photographing a wedding day is such an emotional high, I'll never get over the honor and perspective. Seeing way the groom watch his favorite person on earth, hearing the dad give a speech that starts "I've dreamed of this day sense I heard 'it's a girl'", the Maid-of-Honor/Sister-of-the-Bride/girl you wish lived next to you so you could ask her do borrow a cup of sugar because she's so awesome doting on her little sister, and watching Andrew serenade "you look beautiful tonight" for his bride after months of secretly learning how to play the piano. It was all just so magical and heart-warming. I love this family and this couple!!

There are so many things to love about Ken and Dottie's wedding. The yellow cake, the paper goods (yum !! is my favorite), Ken loving on Dottie, the bridal party made up of their family and closest friends, the ladies red hair, oh! the flowers!!, and the prefect venue. All of this is a vision of Ken and Dottie's.

But the best part  of the day is when they exchanged vows in front of their loved ones. Silently, where just the two of them could hear. The way the laughed, smiled, shared their perfect chemistry was so beautiful to see.

Paul and Alyse are loved. They cast smiles and held hands as they married in a church of Alyse's hometown. It was evident as their parents toasted at their reception to the couples life together, in a room dripped with crystals and jewel tones. When the best man joked about Paul's haircut and the fact it has not changed in 20 years and 4,000 miles. The story of when the maid of honor, Stephanie, knew the groom was the guy for her Alyse. All this told every person, Paul and Alyse are loved in a big big way.

Meeting Alyse at Bridget and Brendan's wedding she is this wonderful mixed of spunk and beauty. When Stephanie told me Alyse was engaged to this great British Guy and preceded to ask if I reminder her, how could I not?  Alyse is like a porcelain doll, so beautiful and amazing eyes. I was quite excited when Alyse decided to have me photographer her wedding day. Curiosity was another thought, who is this fiance with a british accent with a tall order of kindness given by Stephanie. For their engagement session all curiosity was answered, Paul is a gentleman and then he talks like Colin Firth. I'm smitten.

Thanks you Paul and Alyse for having Travis and I photograph your wedding day. Seeing all your family and friends pour over you with love. The joy you two exhibit to everyone and especially one another is what makes our job awesome. Thank you thank you!!.

Adam and Megan scored with this dreamy day of weather for the month of October. Their perfect fall colors of purple and gold, the beyond gorgeous dress, Adam's handsome suit, amazing venues and team of people to put it all together. Oh! And can we just take a minute to say how beautiful Megan's eyes are?! It was awesome.

Then I dropped my favorite lens on the concrete. Switched to my backup and photographed Adam and Megan seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day.

I'm not saying all this so you think "that happened to me!! heart. break." or "I hope that never happens to me" (ps-it will, get insurance) or to comfort brides and grooms with knowing their photographer carries back-up equipment?

None of the above.

After the first moment Adam and Megan saw each other I switched back to my favorite lens to assess the damage.

All the outside images taken after the gorgeous bridal party is with that lens. I'm naming in the "A&Mlens". Lovingly.

The change is very slight, enough to make me love it but not enough to make me send it to CPS. The colors are perfect, the yellows softened, and the flair is this really pretty rainbow of colors. Seen in the first image on the right of Adam and Megan's blog post. So I'm keeping it the way it is. Kind of like Paganini tearing apart the strings on his violin to have a sound like none other. This particular violin he named "Cannon". What can I say, I love obscure analogies.

Now on to the images...

Ouch! Did you drop the 35 or the 50? Funny that dropping it made it even cooler :) These are gorgeous! Loving the ring shots!

I shoot Nikon but dropped my 50 1.4 a few months ago. There was a big crack on the back lens but the pictures were still tack sharp...go figure! I ended up replacing just in case! The images are amazing...just beautiful!

Kaila says:

Wow! The details are breathtaking- those shoes are gorgeous! I love the story about the lens. I would be so sad if my 50 ever broke at a wedding- that's why I carry the non L version, but oh how beautiful the images turned out even after it broke! I love all the colors!!! If you ever need another shooter in the Indy area I would love to :)
