You had me at the Tom Petty song. Sigh :) Fabulous as always!
You open your heart knowing that there's a chance it may be broken one day & in opening your heart,
you experience a love & joy that you never dreamed possible.
You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that's so real it scares you.
You find strength in knowing you have a true friend & possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end.
-Bob Marley
Happy 3 year anniversary Lynsey and Tommy. Here's to many more blue skies & years of joy!
These are beyond perfect. Love the quote and love the handsome boy! Cannot begin to thank you enough for all the beautiful pictures you've taken for us over the years. Much love to you!

He wants to be a 'chef' or 'build art galleries' when he grows up.
And he can make a batch of the best chocolate chip cookies you will ever eat.
No really, he's about to share are the best cookies, people have offered their first born while eating their 4th cookie. They are that amazing. And when our CSA has mint, they get even better. Oh, yes, mint* in chocolate chip cookies=heaven.

Tips for the best CCC ever, if you don't follow these there are no guaranties.1-the best ingredients you can find, the most important is the chocolate
2-kosher salt
3-make sure your oven actually is 350 degrees, we have one of these that sits inside the oven
4-bake the cookies a bit shorter than you think and let them finish on the cookie sheet when they come out of the oven
5-butter and egg needs to be room temperature
Recipe
This makes around 15-18 cookies, the perfect amount for treats and breakfast the next day. What can I say, we have cookies for breakfast. We live on the edge.
Preheat oven to 350
Dry ingredients:
1cup and 2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 kosher salt
Wet ingredients:
1/2 cup butter room temperature
1/3 dark brown sugar (light will work but dark is best)
1/3 granulated sugar
1 large egg room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla (no artificial stuff here)
8 oz chocolate chips (we like half milk chocolate, half dark chocolate chips)
1 tablespoon mint leaves, cut into ribbons (optional)
Measure all of the dry ingredients and place in a bowl to the side.
Put butter and sugars to medium mixing bowl and stir until creamy. Add egg and vanilla until combined. Take dry mixture and put half into the wet ingredients, stir, stir, then add other half, stir stir. Lastly add the chocolate chips and the optional mint, stir, stir.
Ta-ta! Now it's time to put them on a ungreased baking sheet. We do a large tablespoons for each cookie. Place in oven and wait for them to turn golden brown on the edges, make sure to follow number 4 of the "no guaranties". This step is critical. Take the cookies out of the oven and sit on the cookie sheet until cool to the touch. Remove and put on cooling rack or plate.
Enjoy sweet success!!
* mint credit goes to my father-in-law or technically my great-aunt-in-law. See one time while eating the 4th cookie from a batch of the best CCC ever, right after he offered his first born (lucky for him, I married his first born), he talked about how these cookies reminded him of his aunt, who made the best cookies. During the summer months she would go out to the garden and pick a few mint leaves and add them to a batch. She's a genius.Who is that little boy? That is NOT Hughes! He is so big with that big kid haircut...oh lord you make cute babies! We have our first pickup at our new CSA next week and I'm over the top excited! Love this post...I will definitely be adding these cookies to my weekend to do list. And fresh mint? Who would have known! I thought it was only good for mojitos! Thanks for sharing!
(04.06.11 @ 09:53 AM)I love these posts of yours! I can't wait to make these cookies! I loved your breakfast cookies, so I am sure I will love these too!!! Thanks for sharing!

(04.06.11 @ 10:35 AM)WHAT? Fresh mint in cookies? Oh. My. Gosh...that is genius, brilliant and diabolical because now I want to make a double batch of those cookies and eat them all myself. I love it! Super cute kids and what looks like a fabulous cookie recipe. Thank you! You made my day!
(04.06.11 @ 10:46 AM)Delicious! These pictures are amazing. I just keep thinking about how these photos of wonderful ordinary moments will be such a treasure to your children. They will share them with their kids and tell stories of their amazing childhood. Doesn't that just make you want to cry and thank God for everything in your life? :) Love you, Clary. And I love your mad baking skills!
(04.06.11 @ 10:49 AM)Love!! And if you can stand it, refrigerate the dough covered for at least a day before you bake (and up to 3 days!). A must for all my CCCs! Can't wait to try these. :)
